Pottery at the Store
Most stores sell locally made pottery, but at our store, we have an in-house potter. His name is Jason Gore, and he makes every single piece of pottery you see with his brother-in-law. An even cooler fact is you can watch them make pottery in the store! The finished pieces are set up on the sales floor by item type then glaze color. There’s a room back near the kitchen section where they throw clay and glaze each piece. You’ll enjoy watching them work while you’re in the store!
Types of Pottery
The potters at Ogle Brothers General Store have taken inspiration from the roots of craftsmanship in the Smokies. Every piece feels like it could have been from back in the pioneer days. You’ll find several different kinds of mugs for coffee and tea. There are bacon cookers, which are a cool item that looks like a giant mug with a plate attached. You lay bacon slices over the top of the bowl and cook it in the oven, and the plate portion catches the grease. There are pie plates that will make your food look rustic and delicious. You can get all kinds of plates for serving food. There are wine tumblers, bowls, and so much more. Each item comes in 1 of 8 different glaze colors. There are whites, blues, greens, reds, yellows, and brown.
Unique Pieces
Not only will you find kitchen pottery at our store, you’ll also find home decor! During the fall, you’ll find handmade ceramic pumpkins in a variety of colors. For the holiday season, there are snowmen. The bodies and hats are made in a single day, while the nose, eyes, and buttons are made the next day, and then everything is assembled to make some cute winter decor! Again, each piece is made by hand then glazed. As soon as you see these pieces, you’ll want to bring them home!

There is a ton of clothing, including jackets, shirts, pants, socks, and shoes. You’ll probably find some kind of home decor, from knick knacks to wall hangings, to bring home. There are locally made candles that smell delicious, soaps for relaxation, and a ton of toys for kids. There are dip mixes, tea, jams, and jellies.
